Recipe for Tzatziki Sauce

Tzatziki is one of those sauces that you absolutely need to know how to make! It’s creamy, tangy and bursting with fresh flavor, and goes with just about anything. My version is an Easy Tzatziki Sauce, made with ingredients you probably already have on hand in just 5 minutes!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Course: Sauce
Cuisine: Mediterranean

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full fat Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup finely diced cucumber English cucumber is best and doesn't require peeling. If not using an English cucumber, peel before dicing.
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp dried dill or 1 tbsp fresh dill

Method

  1. Prep the cucumber by dicing it into small pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic clove, salt and dill.
  3. Stir well, and taste. Adjust the sauce according to your liking with salt.

Notes

  • Let it rest before serving. Just 10 to 15 minutes helps the flavors settle and the garlic soften, making the sauce even better.
  • Season generously. Trust your taste buds! Greek yogurt is tangy and thick, so don’t be afraid to add a pinch more salt to balance the sauce.
  • Use full-fat yogurt for the best texture. It gives you that thick, creamy spoonful that doesn’t get watery as it sits.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days! If separation occurs, give it a good stir before serving.
