Woman smiling holding a bowl of food.

Hi, I’m Lauren!

Welcome to Everyday Bowls, where you’ll find recipes for everyday life, made with culinary school techniques.

I’m a culinary school graduate, recipe developer, and full-time food person. And yes, I really do mean full-time! When I’m not developing and writing recipes for this blog, I’m writing about food for other food bloggers over at The Food Blog Writer. Food is genuinely my whole life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Where it all began…

I grew up in Colorado, studied Spanish at the University of Colorado, and then just… kept following that thread. First I moved to Spain, then to Colombia, and eventually to Ecuador with the Peace Corps.

Ecuador is where everything clicked. The food, the culture, the people, I was hooked! I also met Carlos (my now fiancé and taste tester), which, in retrospect, was probably the most important thing that happened to me in the Peace Corps.

When my service ended, I went back to the US and did the thing I’d been wanting to do for a long time: culinary school. And once I had that foundation, Carlos and I made the easy decision to stop living on different continents and build our life together back in Ecuador.

So here I am, a Colorado girl with a culinary degree, living in South America, thinking about food every single hour of the day. Everyday Bowls is where all of that comes together.

What You’ll Find on Everyday Bowls

Everyday Bowls is all about bringing real culinary technique into the home kitchen, without making it feel like homework.

I believe that everyone can be a ridiculously good cook, it just takes a little practice. I love sharing little secrets along the way that will make you a more confident cook, with some go-to cooking methods that will never leave you astray.

I also believe that sometimes, the best food takes time and effort. That said, not every meal needs to be a project. Some recipes here are weeknight-fast. Others ask a little more of you, and I’ll always tell you upfront when something is worth the extra effort (and it will be worth it, I promise)!
